COMMISSIONS BY ALANA MANNING
Your spot, painted for your wall. Or theirs, as the perfect gift.
Some places deserve more than a print. The beach where you got married. The view from the home you just sold after thirty years. The bay your family has swum at for three generations. Tell me the spot and what it means to you, and I'll paint it.
I take on a limited number of coastal commissions each month, originals of beaches, ocean pools, and landscapes across the Eastern Suburbs, NSW south coast, or wherever your spot happens to be, painted from your own photos if needed. Commissions start at $1,250, are painted in oil on canvas, and arrive framed and ready to hang.
MORE THAN A PAINTING
A painting that holds the whole story.
Everyone has a beach that means something, yours doesn't have to stay a memory.
It becomes the kind of gift people keep for the rest of their lives. The piece that gets pointed out to grandkids. The one visitors always ask about.
I take on only a handful each month, so yours gets the time it deserves.
A recent commission was a 60 x 40cm oil of Gordon's Bay, painted for a client who used to live in the area and always loved walking past this view.
Simple steps, from first hello to hanging it.
-
1. Tell me your spot
Send me the beach and the story behind it. A photo helps, but the meaning matters more.
-
2. We plan it together
We settle on size, framing and feel. I'll quote you upfront, so there are no surprises later.
-
3. I paint it
I work in oils, slowly and from the heart. I'll share progress so you can watch it come to life.
-
4. It arrives
Wrapped with care and posted free across Australia, ready to find its wall.
The landscapes people ask me to paint
Whether it's for you or as a gift
Three generations deep
The water your family has swum in for as long as anyone remembers, kept for the next lot coming through.
Where you said 'I do'.
The beach you got married on or engaged, painted for the anniversary. A gift that means far more than its size.
The view you packed up
The outlook from the house you sold after thirty years, so you never really have to leave it behind.
Their favourite spot
Perfect for birthday gifts, wedding gifts, anniversary gifts or Christmas.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can you work from my photo?
Yes. If your spot isn't somewhere I can visit myself, send me your own photos and I'll paint from those. The more detail and light you can capture, the better, a few different angles helps too.
What if I've moved away from Sydney?
That's often the whole reason people commission a piece. Plenty of my commissions are spots people have left behind.
How long does it take?
6 weeks to 2 months once we've locked in the spot and the details. Oils need time to dry properly, and I won't rush a piece. If you've got a deadline, tell me early and we'll plan around it.
Can I give it as a gift?
Yes, commissions make a meaningful gift. If you're working toward a birthday, anniversary, or Christmas, get in touch early, as spots are limited each month.
What sizes can I choose?
Anything from a smaller piece for a quiet corner up to a proper statement work. Four sizes are available, Small, Medium, Large and Statement, with prices from $1,250. We'll settle on the right size together once I know the spot and where it's going to hang.
Does the price include framing?
Yes, all commission prices include framing.
Does the price include shipping?
No, shipping isn't included in the price. The cost depends on the size of the painting and where it's being shipped to, I'll confirm this with you once we've settled on a size and destination.

I commissioned a piece from Alana Manning Art of a local beach my parents love, as a gift to them. I sent her some photos they had taken of the spot and she turned around a beautiful piece, arranged postage and packaging direct to their door. Incredible work and great service. Can't wait to organise another piece with her!

We commissioned an oil painting of Gordon’s Bay in Coogee from Alana Manning Art and couldn’t be happier with the result. The piece turned out absolutely beautiful and has filled our blank space perfectly. It leaves us feeling nostalgic of the time we lived there which makes it even more special.
We’re very pleased with how everything turned out and would highly recommend her work.
