About Alana
After spending 15 fulfilling years in the tech industry, I decided it was time to step away from the screen and explore the world of painting. What started as a hobby quickly grew into something more, and I'm enjoying seeing how my work evolves.
To refine my practice, I undertook private lessons and am currently completing a Diploma of Visual Arts, while continually exploring new techniques and materials.
My work is deeply inspired by the stunning Australian landscape and its native flora. Using gouache on paper, acrylic, and oil, I love to experiment with the interplay of colour, texture, and light. I use various mark-making techniques to bring movement and life into each piece, encouraging the viewer to explore every detail.
Through my art, I aim to evoke the raw beauty of the natural world—capturing both its serenity and its dynamic energy. My pieces invite viewers to slow down, take in the details, and connect with nature in a new way.
Living in Coogee, NSW, I’m lucky to be surrounded by natural beauty. You'll often find me swimming in the local rock pools, or doing one of the coastal walks and it's here I draw inspiration from the picturesque landscapes and native flowers. When I’m not painting or swimming, I enjoy salsa dancing, spending time with friends and family, and exploring cultural events in Sydney.
