This piece captures a stunning elevated view along the Bermagui coastline, clear turquoise water meeting layered sandstone rocks, a stretch of golden sand, and a scattering of local houses along the headland. In the background, Gulaga rises above it all, visible from almost anywhere in Bermagui.
Gulaga holds deep significance to the Yuin people, known as the Mother Mountain and central to their creation stories, particularly for Aboriginal women. No matter where you are in town, that mountain is always there, watching over the coast.
Original oil on canvas, 40.5H x 50.5W cm (16" x 20"), painted 2026. Unframed, with framing available on request.
