This piece looks out over Bruce Steer Pool in Bermagui, lush greenery framing the foreground, giving way to shimmering water and the rocks that shelter the pool from the open harbour. Gulaga rises in the background.
Bruce Steer Pool sits protected by the headland on one side and a stone breakwater on the other, which means it stays calm even when the rest of town is buffeted by wind. This is where I swim the most whenever I'm back in Bermagui, and its length makes it perfect for laps. I also love sitting under the overhanging trees here with a book.
Original oil on canvas, 76.2H x 50.8W cm (30" x 20"), painted 2026. Unframed, with framing available on request.
